Â鶹AV biology and chemistry majors have a new opportunity to cut their college costs through the recent establishment of the Georgia Chree Lau Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship was founded by LU College of Business Alum Clayton Lau in honor of his late wife, Georgia Chree Lau.
Georgia Chree Lau graduated from Â鶹AV with a dual bachelor’s degree in chemistry and biology in 1968. Upon graduation, she worked as an educator, teaching chemistry and biology. She also served beyond the classroom as a National Decathlon Coach and National Honor Society Sponsor before retiring after a 27-year career.
Together, the couple supported Â鶹AV over the years by funding fellowships, contributing to the President’s Associates Fund, and being members of the President’s Circle and the Mirabeau Society.
The scholarship will be open to junior and senior-level biology and chemistry students with a 3.0 GPA. Funding for the scholarship will begin in the fall of 2024 with recipients having the opportunity to stay on scholarship for four semesters.
