McNair Scholars Program Application

PLEASE NOTE:

Prior to completing the information on this application form, you should be prepared to submit the following support materials electronically in order to complete your application packet. Documents that require uploading must be in Word or PDF format:

  1. Personal Statement - a typed, double-spaced essay of 300-500-words describing your academic and career goals
  2. Writing Sample - an academic essay from any one of your courses that best highlights your writing strengths and critical thinking skills
  3. The names and email addresses of 2 Faculty members who have agreed to complete recommendation forms on your behalf. (An email will be sent to each upon submission of your application form.)
  4. Federal Income Tax filing information for yourself or your parents (if claimed as a dependent)
  5. Cumulative and Major GPA information and how many semester hours you have completed
  6. If you are not a US Citizen, a copy of your INS documentation

 

Please make sure to have everything before you begin, as incomplete forms cannot be submitted and any information entered will be lost if you choose to leave the page before finalizing the submission.

The goal of the McNair Scholars program is to increase the attainment of Ph.D. degrees by students from underrepresented segments of society. This program is currently designed for students seeking Masters, PhDs, or combination MD/PhDs. We cannot accept students seeking strictly Law, Medical, or Pharmacy degrees at this time.

All information requested in this application is used to determine the applicant's eligibility for the McNair Scholars program. All information received is handled and treated with strict confidentiality. If you have any questions about this application, please speak with the McNair Scholars program Director.
