5 Places to Study at LU You Haven't Considered

Â鶹AV Girl Studying

Look, you can never go wrong studying at the Mary and John Gray Library. With all of its services and amenities (including the soon to open Starbucks) students can find all they need to comfortably work on homework. But, as scholars, we know that a change of scenery is a positive thing and can make all the difference when it comes to motivation. Whether you prefer quiet study or thrive in a busy atmosphere, Â鶹AV has a place for you to conquer your next project or study session. Take it from our students and alumni, here are the best campus spots to visit to get away and get focused.

John Gray Center Pond

John Gray Pond

You can find this Â鶹AV oasis on the west side of campus, near the baseball field. When sunny days make it hard to crack open your textbooks, head to the pond to soak up some sun on a bench or, our favorite, lounge on one of the open grass areas. If you're lucky, you might spot the season's new baby ducks.

Â鶹AV Community Garden

Confused? We won't hold it against ya. Many students don't know that Â鶹AV has a community garden but it's a perfect place to study. When the weather is nice, grab your books and take a trip around the Communications Building, next to the tennis courts, to enjoy the student grown flowers.

You can keep up with new garden developments by following the LU Green Squad's .

Sheila Umphrey Recreational Sports Center

Â鶹AV Rec Center

Mostly known as a place to work out, rock climb, or play sports, the Rec Center also offers an ambient place to do homework, relax, or watch TV. If you're looking for a study spot that's a little different from the norm, find it behind Island Oasis Juice Bar, in between the game room and stairs.

Nothing makes studying more bearable than food. In addition to being an excellent place to grab dinner and catch the game, large booths and couches make Kampus Korner a fun place to meet for the next group project. Follow up your study efforts by rewarding yourselves with a game at one of the pool tables.

BONUS: Newly Renovated Setzer Student Center

Crews are working around the clock as they revamp the "Set." New features will include 18 new meeting rooms, collaborative student lounges, a video game lounge, and food...lots of it.

The new food court will include a Panda Express, Jason's Deli, and Chic-Fil-A. Expect to be taking advantage of these improvements by Spring 2018.
