The Mary Morgan Moore Department of Music at Â鶹AV offers a Master of Music Degree with a concentration in Performance. This degree allows you, as a music performer, to advance your own musicianship and to develop new concepts that may be applied to your particular field.

This program is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music and fully immerses you in the cultural study of music, composition, performance techniques, education, history and more. Here, you can sing in a chorus, go to a live performance, compose an original piece, enjoy music of various genres and play your instruments, all while refining your natural gifts and talents.
Music Reference, Research and Writing: Research problems of special interest to students whose major emphasis is on the graduate field of music. Research paper required.
Bach and Beethoven: An in-depth inquiry into the music and lives of J.S. Bach and Beethoven with the goal of understanding their oeuvre and importance to the history of music. Additional insights into the music of the Baroque and Classical Eras.
Popular Music of the 20th Century: A survey of the aesthetics, styles, and practices of popular music during the twentieth century. Styles considered include bands, ragtime, jazz, rock, and others.
Twentieth Century Harmony: The analysis and writing of music based on twentieth century harmonic techniques and devices.
Analytical Techniques: Traditional and contemporary approaches to the visual and aural analyses of music from all periods.
Master's level performers are encouraged to begin expanding their networks through auditioning and performing as much as possible and, if desired, to continue on to postgraduate study, to increase options for becoming a performing teacher of music in higher education.
